Job Description

National Airlines, based in Orlando, FL, operates passenger charter service as well as customized military and commercial air cargo carriages worldwide. National Airlines specializes in over-sized, time sensitive, and special handling requirements, utilizing 757-200, 747-400 and A-330 aircraft to accomplish its missions.

Summary: The dispatcher provides flight crew with safe and timely flight planning and flight release information for all National Airline Flight Operations in compliance with Federal Air Regulations and company guidelines. In addition, the Dispatcher provides technical data to support our internal and external customers.

Essential Functions:

  • Monitors the progress of each flight, issuing necessary information for the safety of the flight, canceling, or re-dispatching a flight if, in his opinion or the opinion of the Pilot in Command, the flight cannot operate or continue to operate safely as planned or released.
  • Responsible for initiation, release, continuation, diversion, and termination of a flight in compliance with 14 CFR Part 121 Domestic, Flag and Supplemental Regulations and/or 91, as applicable, National Airlines approved/accepted, as applicable, manuals, and the OpSpecs.
  • Provides the dispatch release of, and operational control over all of the daily flight operations of National Airlines in accordance with 14 CFR Part 121 Domestic, Flag, and Supplemental Regulations and National Airlines company policy and procedures, in order to provide safe, comfortable, efficient, economical, and reliable service to National Airlines customers and guests.
  • Responsible, in conjunction with the Pilot in Command, for the preparation and issuance of the Dispatch Release in accordance with National Airlines approved/accepted, as applicable, procedures under 14 CFR Parts 121 and 91, as appropriate.
  • Responsible for providing the Pilot in Command with all available current reports or information on airport conditions and irregularities of navigation facilities that may affect the safety of the flight.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the required data, as defined in National Airlines approved/accepted, as applicable, manuals are prepared and provided to crewmembers prior to departure.
  • Responsible for ensuring that Crewmembers are briefed on the status of the aircraft with regards to mechanical discrepancies/irregularities, MEL/CDL deferrals, and any other items that may affect the intended flight prior to the release of the flight.
  • Responsible to provide the PIC with a pre-flight briefing on meteorological conditions, ATC and navigations issues, airport conditions, MEL/CDL restrictions, unusual payload, or any other information that, in the opinion of the Dispatcher, is pertinent to the safety of flight, as required.
  • Performs flight-monitoring requirements as specified. Issue flight advisory messages (FAMs), keeping crews and stations informed of any changes in the status of all flights such as early departure authorizations, anticipated delays, cancellations, diversions, unscheduled landings, rerouting, changes, and/or substitutions of equipment (usually flight-specific) either by type or series, or any other schedule irregularities resulting from either the Dispatcher or from a joint Pilot- Dispatchers decision(s) whether done prior to flight's departure or during in route operations.
  • Reports and records all irregularities encountered involve mechanical, operational, safety or emergency situations that could affect the intended flight.
  • Performs other duties as required or directed.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required.
  • Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate.
  • Two years' Dispatch experience preferred.
  • International/ETOPS preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet Explorer

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting.
  • Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at a time.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules to support the 24/7 operation.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple assignments under stress.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong technical knowledge of aircraft performance, navigation, weather, and Federal Air Regulations.
  • Monitor and understand meteorological conditions that may adversely affect the safety of the flight and relay information to the crew and managers.
