About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chair for its Department of Anthropology. The successful candidate will be an experienced and distinguished senior scholar with a Ph.D. in Anthropology or a related field, holding the rank of Advanced Associate Professor or Professor with tenure. The Chair will serve as the academic and administrative leader of the department, overseeing a diverse faculty of 23 full-time members and two major research centers. Responsibilities include guiding the department's academic programs, advancing its mission, and working collaboratively with the college and university leadership to support strategic goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong record of scholarship, teaching, and mentoring, as well as demonstrated leadership in higher education, including experience in program development, strategic planning, and fostering research and innovation. Applicants for the Chair position at the company should have a proven track record of effective academic leadership and be prepared to contribute to the department's baccalaureate, M.A., and Ph.D. programs. The role requires a leader who can support and facilitate the growth of faculty research and the department's centers, with a preference for those who have experience in shared governance and a successful record of maintaining a competitively funded research program. The Chair will be expected to have the skills and vision necessary to lead the department in continued growth and innovation, and to work with a diverse faculty to ensure the department's success. The position is open to candidates from any subfield of Anthropology, and the Chair will be instrumental in fostering a collaborative and inclusive academic environment.
