Job Title: Executive Strategic Writer
Job Qualifications:
- Have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in one or more of the following: information systems/technology, English literature, strategic studies related fields, or have a combined minimum of three years of experience in strategic research, technical writing.
- A graduate from either a military War College, School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS), Advanced Strategic Leadership Studies Program (ASLSP) or equivalent.
- At work performance start date, have a final Top Secret security clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) and shall maintain the required security clearance throughout the life of the contract.
- Demonstrate the ability to think critically and creatively, exercise good strategic judgment, and effectively debate and argue in an intellectual, logical, and persuasive manner with Senior Leaders.
- Have a minimum of ten years of experience and knowledge in Signal Communications at all echelons on the battlefield.
- Have a minimum of three years of experience and knowledge in the capabilities and limitations of applicable computer software programs from Microsoft Office Products.
- Have 2 years’ experience and knowledge of military documentation process, capability development process or requirements determination process.
- Have 3 years demonstrated experience and knowledge coordinating and collaborating with Army proponents, units, the DA Staff and other DOTMLPF responsible agents to facilitate timely analysis and solution development on emerging lessons learned issues by assisting responsible proponents.
- Have 3 years knowledge and skills in coordinating and reviewing graphic and illustrations during the editorial process with the publication development staff.
- Have 3 years’ experience and knowledge in the capabilities and limitations of applicable computer equipment, program system software and programming aids (templates) in order to carry out and coordinate efforts to analyze and verify mandated format requirements.
Key Tasks:
- Attend meetings as directed for the purposes of taking notes, briefing, information sharing, and assigned work section representation.
- Develop, facilitate, and maintain a rigorous Signal Proponent Strategic ASEP-C program for Signal School.
- Formulate an in-depth understanding of the strategic leadership environment at the highest levels of national service.
- Create, produce, update, and maintain critical and viable Strategic Plan and ASEP-C slides which solve operational and strategic problems to be briefed by the Signal School Commandant.
- Provide a comprehensive, multifaceted focus at the theater-strategic level across the spectrum of Signal and joint land force operations—during peace, crisis, and war.
- Conduct research and analysis and preparation of operational and strategic information products to provide written plans, papers, briefing products, and develop talking points and briefs for use by Signal Commandant and the staff.
- Provide leadership, executive relationship and communications skills required to create impactful interactions with political leaders, the Joint community, media, business, think tanks and academia
- Modify and apply competencies to lead and sustain complex, innovative, agile and ethical organizations in a Joint, Interagency, Intergovernmental, and multinational (JIIM) environment.
- Collaborate with internal and external agencies utilizing professional skills, telephones, video teleconference, MS TEAMS, e-mail, other electronic means, orally, graphically and in writing.
- Conduct analysis and research to strategic lines of effort on the Strategic Plan: signal, satellite, tactical radios, networks and services, doctrine, requirements integration, capability development, training development and instruction.
- Provide assessments to keep senior leaders informed and to support programmatic change through evidence-based decision making.
- Compile research and input from various resources and develop plans for dissemination to all service branches and levels of military, congressional staff and members, DOD, foreign allies, and the media/general public.
