Marks is hiring a Proofreader for our Marks Chicago studio!

About the Team This Marks Packaging Design team is a talented agency-within-an-agency. Constructed to service an exclusive retail client engagement - this group lives and breathes packaging craft across a versatile collection of brands and categories - from food & beverages to household essentials. A multidisciplinary group of problem-solvers, you'll work alongside creatives, project managers, copywriters, CGI artists, photographers, and production artists alike, to bring new packaging designs, extensions, adaptations, and updates to life.
This role is designated hybrid - working 3 days a week from our Chicago studio (located in the bustling Fulton Market neighborhood), as well as from home.
Position Overview The Proofreader will become proficient across a range of brand categories and style guides by getting immersed in client brands, brand style guides and individual product SKUs. The Proofreader will review various formats, legalities, ingredients, logos, icons as well as learning various regulatory and compliance requirements. The Proofreader is an integral part of the team. The ideal candidate is detail oriented and excels in a fast-paced, creative environment. They will review a large volume of packaging artwork files daily at numerous points throughout the creative and adaptive design process to ensure file accuracy.

- Read, understand and follow all work instructions via project management work orders and project management systems defined by workflow process
- Proofread packaging copy electronically at all stages of the creative and adaptive/PA process to correct errors in type, grammar and punctuation enforcing consistency
- Check that overall package appearance conforms to relevant brand style guide
- Confirm UPC codes, trademarks, phone numbers and other ancillary packaging components are correct and up to date
- Communicate and collaborate efficiently with all team members

Prerequisites - Post Secondary education in Writing, English, Communications, Editing
- 3+ years of experience working as a proofreader, copy editor
- Computer literacy, proficient using Mac OS and Microsoft products as well as Adobe Acrobat Pro
