Summary The Battle Creek VA Medical Center is recruiting for a Purchasing Agent. The Purchasing Agent will function within Prosthetics Service. Responsibilities Duties include but are not limited to: Receive clinical records and claims folders to determine legal eligibility and medical entitlement for prosthetic items and services. Using the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR,) VA Acquisition Regulations (VAAR), VHA and Prosthetics Directives and handbooks, VISN policies, National Regulations, and Station Memorandum to obtain patient specific medical equipment, supplies and services based on consults received from medical providers clinical assessment and evaluation of the Veteran's medical condition. Purchases include but are not limited to rentals to meet the outpatient medical needs of the services, all outpatient durable medical equipment and supplies, rehabilitation equipment, mobility, and daily living aids, neuro-sensory, home oxygen, inpatient surgical implants and supplies. The incumbent's regular and recurring workload includes routine simplified purchase orders that require System for Award Management (SAM) purchases are generally obtained using Federal Supply Schedule (FSS)/VISN/Local and/or DALC contracts. Receive and analyze prosthetics request forms, consults and prescriptions. Conducts open market research for purchases of routine equipment, supplies, and services. Operate prosthetic software to maintain detailed and accurate accounting of all actions taken for veterans and documents their records to show all items and services provided. Identifies needs or problems and determines recommended corrective actions, alternatives or solutions. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary and is carried out in an office setting. There exist prolonged periods of working at a computer terminal.
